Food Trucks Roll into Downtown Northville Today

There will be food, live music and a chance to preview downtown Northville's sidewalk sale.

Have you ever had a food craving while walking down the street and wished someone would lean out of their car to hand you something to eat?

Maybe you haven't, but this week visitors to downtown Northville will know what that feels like when some of the best food trucks from metro Detroit make a stop in the city.

The food trucks will roll up Thursday on Main Street, just west of Center Street, and will serve barbecue, hot dogs, pizza, tacos, burgers and desserts from 5 to 9 p.m.

"We're really excited to bring some of the best food trucks in Detroit to Downtown Northville.  Most people who haven't eaten at an event like this before are really surprised at the high quality of food that comes from these trucks.  It's pretty great to have an opportunity to taste some really unique dishes that you might not find at a brick and mortar restaurant," said Dan Ferrara, of the Northville Central Business Association (NCBA), in an email to Patch.

This event is the kickoff preview night for downtown Northville's sidewalk sale. Get a first look at the sale merchandise, which will be available for purchase Friday through Sunday on the sidewalks outside the stores.

The NCBA, which is sponsoring the event, is bringing eight trucks to the city:
- Rolling Stone Mobile Wood-fired Pizza
Buffy's Mexi-Casian Grill
- Jacques' Tacos
- Franks Etc
- The Grindhouse Food Truck
- Smokey Rhodes BBQ
- Ned's TravelBurger
Treat Dreams' Dream Machine (dessert truck)

Ferrara said one of the NCBA's goals is to focus less on large events, because the DDA and Chamber of Commerce do those well, and to try smaller innovative ideas to give people another reason to come to Northville.

"I think it's a great opportunity to drive new people into Northville.  Even though they'll be eating at food trucks on Thursday, they'll see all of the other restaurants Northville has to offer.  We really have a great variety of dining in Northville.  Even though many of us have our favorite one or two restaurants in town, we all should remember to try something new and visit one of the other 18 or so places to eat," he said.

There will also be live music in Northville's Square, on Main Street, by Robin Horlock. For more details on the event, check out http://www.northvilleshops.com.
