The Northville Mustangs Girls Basketball team traveled to South Lyon Tuesday to take on the Lady Lions. Northville got things going early as the team hit (3) 3-pointers in the opening quarter and Sr. Kendra Brenner scored 10 points to open up a 14-6 lead. The Mustangs defense held strong in the second quarter while they continued to build on their lead, going up 10 at halftime. South Lyon made things interesting in the 3rd quarter as they hit five baskets including one at the buzzer to pull within five at 32-27. Northville would not relinquish the lead in the 4th quarter as 8 out 9 Mustangs scored to win 48-37.
South Lyon gave us plenty of scoring chances early on and our girls made a conscientious effort to rebound the ball. It's always harder playing a team the second time in just a couple of weeks because they are familiar with what you do. You always have to take the good with the bad in any game and although we improved our rebounding we made some errors out there that are not characteristic of what this group has done this season. So we have some things to work on and correct. We have to avenge an earlier loss to South Lyon East this Friday. They are playing much better and have won a couple of games in a row and will be coming in with a ton of confidence. Northville 11-4 overall, 6-3 division hosts South Lyon East in their last division game Friday on Senior Night.
