Generally when you go to a wedding, tables are assigned by numbers. To make your wedding more unique and personal you can use table names instead. This is also a good icebreaker for the people at the table and gives them something to talk about. Here are some fun ideas on how to name your tables:
- Hobbies - Words that are connected with something you both love to do (ex. golfers- fairway, 19th hole, green, etc)
- Songs - Names of songs by artist you both like
- "I Love You" - In different languages
- Where You Met - Reference to places where you met. If you met at a university use landmarks, bars, colleges from that town
- Famous Couples - Like Sandy and Danny, Lady and The Tramp, Desmond and Penny, etc.
- Year - Name each table a different year and put a picture of you and your fiance from that year to go with it
- Places You've Been - Name each table after a vacation spot you and your fiance traveled to, accompanied with a picture and description about the trip
- Theme - If you're into an Old Hollywood theme, use movies or actors/actresses from that time period
Naturally, the head table was named the "Krewe of Rex," since Rex is the traditional King of Carnival in Mardi Gras lore. As an aside, that one decision -- Mardi Gras -- answered many other questions: Colors (purple, green and gold), music ("Second Line," "Mardi Gras Mambo," "If Ever I Cease to Love" and pretty much anything by Professor Longhair and The Meters), menu selections, souvenirs (authentic Mardi Gras beads and aluminum coins from past parades), and so on.
