Northville Parks and Recreation will attempt to break a world record this weekend with more than 700 people playing a game of Lightning.

Lightning, also called Elimination or Knockout, is a fast-paced basketball shooting
game meant to be played with several participants. See the rules and a link to a video demonstration.

Everyone is invited — 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Northville High School — not only to attempt to break a Guinness World Record but to also honor the memory of Lisa Christensen, Northville youth basketball program director who was killed by her estranged husband in a murder-suicide in July.

"Lisa Christensen loved sports and spread her passion throughout the Northville community," Northville Parks and Recreation wrote on Patch.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Lisa Christensen Memorial Fund for the benefit of her children, Mallory and Mitch Weber.
