Discover downtown Northville during Girls' Night Out Friday.

It's holiday shopping season in Northville!

Visit downtown Northville Friday on Girls' Night Out for an enjoyable evening with your girlfriends and a perfect chance to get a start on your holiday wish list.

The event, from 5 to 9 p.m., is the second Girls' Night Out of the year. The first one in April was a large success despite the rainy weather, said Dan Ferrara — new owner of the Northville Gallery and member of the Northville Central Business Association, which puts on the event.

"There are some great things in Northville that you can't find at the mall or at the big box stores," he said.

Shopping starts at 5 p.m. with special events, drawings and discounts at many of the more than 50 participating retail stores. The evening will kick-off the holiday season, Ferrara said, with the storefronts and sidewalks adding to the holiday spirit.
