Henry Ford board members voted against the multi-billion-dollar deal Tuesday afternoon.
The Beaumont and Henry Ford health systems merger has been called off after "different perspectives" emerged about the $6.4-billion deal. Henry Ford board of trustees' decision Tuesday followed six months of due diligence discussions involving hundreds of Beaumont and Henry Ford team members, according to Beaumont. “We have benefited greatly from our merger discussions and have great respect for our colleagues at Henry Ford,” said Gene Michalski, president and CEO, Beaumont Health System. “However, we found through our discussions that we are not aligned on how to achieve our vision for a model health system due to differences in our structures and business models.” In a letter to employees, Henry Ford CEO Nancy Schlichting wrote the …
The following information was supplied by Northville Township police. Arrests do not indicate convictions.
Four people were caught trespassing at the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital around 5 p.m. May 15, according to a Northville Township police report. An officer searched the property and found three men and one woman coming out of the main building, the report said. The officer ordered them to stop, but the three men ran back into the building while the woman stopped, according to the police report. The officer arrested her and contacted Livonia police because she had a criminal bench warrant for contempt of court from that department, the report said. The officer could not find the three men. The officer transferred the woman to Livonia police after issuing her a ticket for trespassing, the report said. She has a court date June 5 at …

As search-and-rescue crews continue to dig through the rubble, many people are wondering what they can do to help those affected by the disaster. John Mozena, spokesperson for the American Red Cross of Southeastern Michigan, said the organization should know more later today about exactly how much help is needed. "We're still in the assessment phase of what's going on in Oklahoma with our disaster assessment professionals," he said.
