Northville Girls Soccer Defeats Canton

The Mustangs win the game, 2-1.

The Northville High School Mustangs varsity girls soccer team beat Canton High School Monday by a score of 2-1. The following summary of the game was submitted by Northville girls soccer coach Eric Brucker. Northville defeats Canton 2-1 as part of the Kensington Conference cross-over game. First half 19th Minute: Junior Ashley Peper sends a high lofted ball from 30 yards out into the Canton goal-mouth. Senior Emily Bush beats the Canton keeper the ball on flicks it into the net. 26th Minute: Junior Rachel Yaggi plays a square ball across the top of the 18 yard box. Junior Gabby Mencotti, collects the pass, turns and fires a shot off the keeper for the eventual game winner.  33rd Minute: Northville Keeper Kiki Hilmer was called for a …

Police Arrest 2 on Marijuana Possession Charges

The following information was supplied by Northville Township police. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Northville Township police arrested a man and a woman on charges of possessing marijuana on May 16, according to a police report. An officer saw a silver 2005 Chevy Impala, heading northbound on Haggerty Road toward Six Mile Road, drive through the Mobil gas station lot to avoid stopping at a red light, the report said.  The officer stopped the car and smelled marijuana, according to the report. The driver, a woman, said she had some marijuana but has a medical marijuana card, the report said. The officer found two sealed plastic packages of what looked like marijuana in her pants pockets and arrested her, according to the report. After looking through the car, the officer found a small plastic sandwich bag containing a ball of tin foil …

Henry Ford, Beaumont Merger Called Off Due to 'Two Very Different Perspectives'

Henry Ford board members voted against the multi-billion-dollar deal Tuesday afternoon.

The Beaumont and Henry Ford health systems merger has been called off after "different perspectives" emerged about the $6.4-billion deal. Henry Ford board of trustees' decision Tuesday followed six months of due diligence discussions involving hundreds of Beaumont and Henry Ford team members, according to Beaumont. “We have benefited greatly from our merger discussions and have great respect for our colleagues at Henry Ford,” said Gene Michalski, president and CEO, Beaumont Health System. “However, we found through our discussions that we are not aligned on how to achieve our vision for a model health system due to differences in our structures and business models.” In a letter to employees, Henry Ford CEO Nancy Schlichting wrote the …

That was simple, Beaumont raised the money for their new facilities at OU in less than 6 months. The big problem I heard, my SIL, works at Beaumont, was the HF didn't want to use OU, but wanted their facilities to be in Detroit and not connected to a University, Now how do you run a Medical School and not be affiliated with a medical school is beyond me. 4 People Trespass at Northville Psychiatric Hospital

The following information was supplied by Northville Township police. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Four people were caught trespassing at the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital around 5 p.m. May 15, according to a Northville Township police report. An officer searched the property and found three men and one woman coming out of the main building, the report said. The officer ordered them to stop, but the three men ran back into the building while the woman stopped, according to the police report. The officer arrested her and contacted Livonia police because she had a criminal bench warrant for contempt of court from that department, the report said. The officer could not find the three men. The officer transferred the woman to Livonia police after issuing her a ticket for trespassing, the report said. She has a court date June 5 at …
