Northville Township police arrested a man May 17 on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a police report. Police were dispatched to the area near Eight Mile and Beck roads for an erratic driver, the report said. An officer saw the driver run into and drive over the curb onto the grass, according to the report. The officer stopped the driver and ran several sobriety tests, the report said. The officer smelled alcohol on the man, according to the report. The man agreed to take a preliminary breathalyzer test, which had a result of .155 percent blood alcohol content, the report said. Northville Township police arrested a man and a woman on charges of possessing marijuana on May 16, according to a police report. An officer saw a silver 2005 Chevy Impala, heading northbound on Haggerty Road toward Six Mile Road, drive through the Mobil gas station lot to avoid stopping at a red light, the report said. The officer stopped the car and smelled marijuana, according to the report. The driver, a woman, said she had some marijuana but has a medical marijuana card, the report said. The officer found two sealed plastic packages of what looked like marijuana in her pants pockets and arrested her, according to the report. Four people were caught trespassing at the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital around 5 p.m. May 15, according to a Northville Township police report. An officer searched the property and found three men and one woman coming out of the main building, the report said. The officer ordered them to stop, but the three men ran back into the building while the woman stopped, according to the police report. The officer arrested her and contacted Livonia police because she had a criminal bench warrant for contempt of court from that department, the report said. The officer could not find the three men. City of Northville police arrested a woman 1:51 a.m. May 12 on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, according to a police report. The officer saw a blue 2012 Chrysler 300 with broken tail lights on Eight Mile Road and Whitegate Drive, the report said. The officer stopped the woman and noticed that her eyes were bloodshot and glassy and her speech was slurred, according to the report. She said she had one glass of wine at dinner when she was at her brother’s house celebrating Mother’s Day, the report said. A man can be seen on surveillance video breaking into Northville Wine & Spirits 3:04 a.m. May 9, according to a City of Northville police report. The officer arrived at the store, 680 West Eight Mile Road, after an alarm went off and noticed that the front door was open and the glass had been broken out, the report said. The registers were all ajar and money appeared to be missing, according to the report. The owner arrived and confirmed that only money had been taken, the report said, and reviewed surveillance video to provide a description of the suspect. Olivia Kwiatkowski, 18, was arraigned Friday on charges relating to the abuse of her 23-month-old nephew.
Olivia Suzanne Kwiatkowski, 18, was arraigned in 35th District Court Friday for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her boyfriend — Dylan James Dunlap, 19, of Northville Township — was charged last week with repeatedly hitting and burning her 23-month-old nephew with a lighter. She is five months pregnant with Dunlap's child, according to the county prosecuting attorney. Because of Kwiatkowski's condition, the attorney requested that Plakas not issue a new bond but transfer the previous one from charges of failing to report the abuse of her two-year-old nephew. Judge James A. Plakas dismissed those charges in court Friday. Kwiatkowski and Dunlap were babysitting the 2-year-old victim last week when the child abuse took place, …

A judge ruled Friday not to decrease Dylan James Dunlap's $1 million bond in a case of child abuse charges against him. Dunlap, 19, was charged after police say he repeatedly hit and burned a 23-month-old with a lighter. His arraignment last week included multiple charges, one of them being torture, which carries a potential sentence of life in prison. Other charges Dunlap is facing include first-degree child abuse and assault. "These are incredibly serious offenses," Judge James A. Plakas said at Dunlap's preliminary examination in 35th District Court Friday in Plymouth. He denied the request because he said there is a victim involved and it's affecting the whole community. City of Northville police charged three teenagers for possessing marijuana, according to a police report. On May 8, an officer was checking Parmenter’s Cider Mill, 714 East Baseline Road, which is closed for the season, while on patrol and noticed a white 2001 Chevrolet Suburban parked in the parking lot away from the buildings, the report said. There were three people in the vehicle, two males and one female, according to the report. The officer could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, the report said. The driver told the officer that the three of them had come to the cider mill with the intention of smoking the marijuana, according to the report. The City of Northville Fire Department and Novi Fire Department will participate in automatic mutual aid agreements.
The City of Northville Fire Department and Novi Fire Department have entered into an automatic mutual aid agreement (AMA), according to a report from the Observer & Eccentric. Northville Fire Chief James Allen told the newspaper that the arrangement, which will have both providing resources upon request to each other at no cost in time of emergencies or need, has become more common and makes sense. In February, at a Northville-Plymouth Fire Advisory Board, Northville Patch reported that Northville and Plymouth city managers reviewed requests from Plymouth Township and the City of Novi for the AMA agreements.

A Northville man’s catalytic converter was stolen from his Chevrolet Cavalier between 11 p.m. April 27 and 5 p.m. April 28 at the Park Place of Northville apartments, according to a Northville Township police report.
