Lake Orion Alum Bikes 1,300 Miles to Raise Awareness for 3 Families

Lake Orion grad Marc D. DesRosiers pledged to ride his bike over 1,300 miles from Denver to Detroit–ending with the Detroit Marathon—in hopes to raise money and awareness for the Lake Orion Loves.

Lake Orion Graduate Marc D DesRosiers pledged to ride his bike more than 1,300 miles from Denver to Detroit and then run the Detroit Marathon in hopes to raise money and awareness for three very important Lake Orion families. Lake Orion Loves is the first project under the Sister Souls, Inc, a local nonprofit founded by Kimberly Casper in 2001. Marc, who started his ride on Oct. 7, has ridden 100 miles or more a day to benefit Max Milewski, Nicole Burton, and Faith Aisthorpe. He will arrive back home just in time to run the Detroit Marathon this Sunday, Oct. 21. Granholm to Schwarzenegger: 'Keep Your Pants Zipped'

The former governor of Michigan, from Northville, offered her thoughts on the Schwarzenegger scandal via Facebook.

From one former governor to another, Jennifer Granholm has advice for Arnold Schwarzenegger. The former governor, a Democrat from Northville, took to her Facebook page yesterday to link to a Huffington Post article titled Arnold Schwarzenegger Fathered A Child With Member Of Household Staff with the following message: "I'll never understand this: another guy guv admits to cheating on his wife. Maybe we need more women governors. Guys: keep your pants zipped, for Pete's sake." Her comments seemed to cause a bit of a stir among her Facebook fans. Northville Mom Makes A Difference

Gina Adams-Levy needs Facebook votes to be named America's greenest mother.

In a contest that stretches nationwide, Northville resident Gina Adams-Levy is one of four finalists in TerraCycle’s “Make a Difference Mom” competition. Adams-Levy is passionate about recycling and reducing waste – so much so that she created a non-profit organization, called Peace, Love & Planet, as well as organizing a “Green Team” at her daughter’s elementary school, in which she implements a weekly “Waste-free Friday” in the cafeteria. This, of course, is in addition to raising two children. “I know I’m just one person, but maybe I could make a difference," she said.
