Right turns out of the restaurant onto High Street will be forbidden.
Patrons of the newly-opened Garage Grill & Fuel Bar in Northville will now be prohibited from making right turns out of the restaurant onto High Street. At a Northville City Council meeting earlier this month, residents expressed concern about the traffic hazards caused by patrons of the newly opened Garage Grill & Fuel Bar. Mayor Chris Johnson promised to look into the issue, and yesterday he and the board approved the recommendation from Police Chief Gary Goss to implement a traffic control order that will prohibit drivers from turning right while exiting the Garage parking lot onto High Street. Because these traffic issues were also brought up before the Garage opened, the plan for the Garage’s parking area included this driveway onto…

The partners said they are happy about support from patrons and the community.
Stop by Garage Grill & Fuel Bar in downtown Northville at 5 p.m. and you'll find a line of patrons waiting to get in the door. Business has been booming at the new restaurant since it opened just a week ago on Nov. 27. "It's been overwhelmingly incredible. The people have just been fantastic," said Bill Evasic, one of the restaurant partners. Managing partner Michael Bageris said that by 5:05 p.m., the wait is usually between an hour-and-a-half to two hours. "The demand is so strong that we're doing our best to take in as many people as possible," he said. The restaurant, which gets its name from the building's original use as an Atchinson Gulf service station in the 1940s, is only open for dinner at this time. Hours are Monday-Thursday 5 …

Several Northville Patch readers say the restaurant's contribution to the downtown business community outweighs parking problems.
Two Northville residents who live on High Street spoke to Northville City Council Monday about a traffic and parking hazard on their streets from patrons of the newly opened Garage Grill & Fuel Bar. The story on Patch generated a lot of buzz among readers. "The restaurant is in downtown and so are the people that live on High Street," Terri commented on the story. "If you would like a quiet street move out on Main Street past Clement." Carol Maynard said she agrees with Terri and that Northville needs to welcome new businesses to its downtown like Plymouth unless it wants to be a ghost town. "I love walking in town seeing more business in this economy. You bought the house next to businesses so deal with it or move," said commenter …

At Monday's city council meeting, resident complaints centered around patrons' vehicles packing residential streets.
The new restaurant Garage Grill & Fuel Bar opened last week in downtown Northville to high fanfare, but some residents are worried that the influx of people to that part of downtown Northville is creating traffic hazards in the residential areas. "There are 14 parking spaces for a restaurant that has seating for more than 200 people," said Mary Beth Widak at Northville City Council's meeting Monday. She said her home's driveway is on High Street where many of the restaurant's patrons have been parking. When vehicles park on both sides of the streets, she said, they become so narrow that only one vehicle can pass at a time. Widak also said the added traffic is bringing speeding drivers down the residential streets. "We bought homes in …

The restaurant officially opened on Tuesday in downtown Northville.
The highly-anticipated Garage Grill & Fuel Bar is now open in downtown Northville. Currently, the restaurant is only open for dinner daily at 5 p.m. The partners expect to open for lunch by early December. "We want this to be a neighborhood restaurant, not just a place you come for special events," said Michael Bageris, one of the restaurant partners. Located on the corner of Main and Wing streets, the restaurant can accommodate up to 75 people in its dining room, another 40 in the bar, 55 outdoor on the patio and up to 80 people for special events in its banquet room. Garage offers a full bar and an American menu with pasta, steaks, seafood, burgers and salads. The restaurant also has a big pizza oven, which can cook pizzas quickly at …

Co-owner Mark Evasic said that the restaurant is also hiring.
A new restaurant with a large banquet facility will be opening its doors in downtown Northville as soon as October, owner Mark Evasic said. Garage Grill & Fuel Bar, located at the corner of Main and Wing streets, is still under construction. When it opens it will be equipped to accommodate up to 70 people in its dining room, another 40 in the bar, 40 outdoors on the patio and up to 80 people for special events in its banquet room, Evasic said. "The banquet facility makes us a pretty unique opportunity in the city of Northville," managing partner Mike Bageris said. The restaurant, named for its historic use as a gas station, will offer an American menu. Items like pizza, steaks, seafood, burgers and salads will be served. "We want to have …
