The cheapest gas in the Northville area is $3.55 per gallon according to Michigan Gas Prices.com.
AAA Michigan is reporting that gasoline prices have fallen roughly 4 cents during the past week to a statewide average of about $3.65 per gallon. The auto club said Monday that the average price at the pump is about 28 cents per gallon less than last year at this time. Of the cities it surveys, AAA Michigan found the cheapest price for self-serve unleaded fuel is in the Marquette area, at about $3.55 a gallon. The highest average is in the Ann Arbor area, at $3.68 a gallon. According to Michigan Gas Prices.com, the cheapest gas in the Northville area is $3.55 a gallon, located at the Meijer station at Eight Mile and Haggerty roads. In just one month, Northville and other metro Detroit cities have seen a spike in gas prices.
Remember when we were talking about how low gas prices were in December? Well, those days are over. According to the AAA Daily Fuel Gauge Report, the price for a gallon of regular gas in metro Detroit has jumped by more than 39 cents since the beginning of January. The trend reflects record-setting increases nation-wide, AAA Federal Relations Manager Avery Ash writes: "The 17-cent increase since last Monday is the most dramatic one-week spike in nearly two years and the twentieth largest weekly increase of the 21st century." Local gas prices continue to fall, and even with Hurricane Sandy on the way, they may stay that way for some time yet. According to the AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas in Metro Detroit is $3.45 this morning, down from $3.48 a week ago. Some of the lowest gas prices in and around southeastern Michigan can be found in Roseville, where gas is $3,18 a gallon at the Sam's Club at Gratiot and Masonic Boulevard, as well as Southgate and Lake Orion, where gas is $3.21 at various stations around town. Prices increase an average of 34 cents a gallon in a week, approaching record highs.
Metro Detroit gasoline prices shot up 34 cents a gallon in a week, running an average of $3.78 a gallon Tuesday vs. $3.44 a week ago, according to AAA Michigan. Motorists are spending $3.50-$3.80 a gallon for regular gasoline in Northville. Other parts of Michigan are paying $4 or more.
