The Meads Mill 8th grade girls basketball team finished their 2013 season with a 10-0 undefeated record. All players worked hard and contributed to a successful season.

The Mustangs beat Walled Lake Central 51-17.
—Submitted by Coach Todd Gudith After beating Walled Lake Northern on the road last Tuesday in their first game of the season, the Mustangs came home to play Walled Lake Central. Northville's pressure defense and hot shooting got the Mustangs off to a great start as they jumped all over the Vikings in the first quarter. Northville made four 3-pointers in the quarter to open up a 21-2 lead after the first 8 minutes. The second quarter wasn't any better for Central as they only made 1 basket all half and fell behind 28-4 at halftime. Northville shot 43% to just 13% for Central. Sometimes games like these are harder to play because its not very competitive and players tend to not have their head in the game and things get sloppy but we …

—Submitted by Coach Todd Gudith The Northville Mustangs girls basketball team won their first district championship in 26 years (last one was in 1986), knocking off Canton 25-24 in a defensive struggle at Novi High School Friday night. Canton had previously won the last three straight district championships and had gone to the final four the past two seasons. Northville's two biggest losses (point differential wise) this season came at hands of Canton (36-18 and 39-23). Northville's last loss was to Canton in the first round of the KLAA playoffs (39-23). —Submitted by Matthew Kearney The Novi Varsity Girls Basketball team got a huge win on Friday night over archrival Northville, 42-36 on SAM Club night at Novi High School. SAM stands for Student Athletic Mentors, a program that pairs 4th graders from Novi Woods Elementary with members of both the boys and girls varsity teams, and Friday night the 4th grade girls were invited to come cheer on their Wildcat buddies as special guests at the game. Getting into the action on the court, Kerri McMahan once again led the Novi scoring attack with 17 points, followed closely by senior Sam Pavlika with 8 points. Novi's varsity girls basketball team suffered a 34-19 defeat Friday night.
Northville High School was host to Friday night's basketball game between the Novi girls varsity Wildcats and the Northville Mustangs. The home team was victorious, sending the Novi Wildcats home with a stinging defeat. Northville maintained the lead throughout the game, ending the first period ahead by 9 points. At the half, the score was Northville, 21-Novi, 9. After encouragement from Coach Kelp, Novi's Wildcats came out aggressively and cut the deficit to 7 points by the end of the third period, but Northville reasserted itself and went on to win the game by a score of 34-19.
