Santa Visits Maybury This Weekend

Stop by to get a photo and shop for food made on the farm.

Santa is back at Maybury Farm in Northville this weekend. Children are welcome to bring their Christmas lists, and parents are welcome to bring their cameras to take photos. Santa will be in the Welcome Center on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. Cider and donuts will be available and the gift shop will be open. Jellies, jams, butters and honey from the farm will be available for purchase. Maybury asks that visitiors make a donation for admission that will go toward winter food for the animals. Northville High School Students Get Hands-On Experience in the Sciences

Teacher Scott Szukaitis shares his love of nature with his students by working at Maybury Farm.

If you stop by to Maybury Farm this summer, you may spot a few Northville High School students and alumni working in the garden, listening to Detroit Tigers games. They're likely to be the former students of NHS science teacher Scott Szukaitis, who has used the garden as part of his classes at the high school. "They have enjoyed themselves out here. I'm surprised at how much," he said. "I generally get about three kids per year who end up starting their own garden. The kids look forward to it." Szukaitis said he hopes the time getting their hands dirty in the garden gives the students get a better sense of where their food comes from.
