David Brandon and Mark Hollis will be speaking at a Chamber of Commerce event on April 26.
University of Michigan Athletic Director David Brandon and Michigan State University Athletic Director Mark Hollis will both speak at a luncheon on April 26. The event will be held at Laurel Manor Banquet & Conference Center at 39000 Schoolcraft Road in Livonia. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and the program is from noon to 1:30 p.m. The event is co-sponsored by the Livonia, Northville, Plymouth and Westland chambers of commerce. The Northville Chamber of Commerce is now accepting registrations for the annual Taste of Northville Business Showcase Event, scheduled for Saturday, March 9 at Northville High School from noon to 3 p.m. The showcase will feature interactive exhibits from retail, service and non-profit businesses at this fun, family-themed event. Kids and parents are invited to participate in the Downtown Costume Parade and Trick or Treat Streets on Saturday, Oct. 27. The Northville Chamber of Commerce-sponsored carnival returns after a more than five year break.
Carnival lovers delight: The Northville Chamber of Commerce is reintroducing its Summer Carnival from June 21-24. There will be a minimum of 18 rides, including a kiddie area, said Chamber Associate Director Tracy Sincock. Arnold Amusements of Traverse City, which also provides carnival entertainment during Traverse City's popular Cherry Festival, will supply the entertainment. The carnival falls at a busy time on the city of Northville's calendar. The Arts and Acts Festival, Solstice Run and more will be held over the same weekend. Vendors at the market's opening day Thursday say buying local is important.
There are eight ingredients in Diane Allan's pasta, sold at the Northville Farmers' Market on Thursday. For the market's opening day, Allan brought pasta, ravioli, sauces and other items to sell that were made recently and without preservatives, she said. Allan didn't have to travel far to promote her business either. She's from Northville. "People should buy locally made products," the Northville resident said. "It's fresher. It hasn't been sitting on a shelf or truck for a month." The Northville Farmers' Market had dozens of vendors selling crafts, produce, meals, flowers, plants and more.
