Woman Charged in Northville Child Abuse Case

Olivia Kwiatkowski, 18, was arraigned Friday on charges relating to the abuse of her 23-month-old nephew.

Olivia Suzanne Kwiatkowski, 18, was arraigned in 35th District Court Friday for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her boyfriend — Dylan James Dunlap, 19, of Northville Township — was charged last week with repeatedly hitting and burning her 23-month-old nephew with a lighter. She is five months pregnant with Dunlap's child, according to the county prosecuting attorney.  Because of Kwiatkowski's condition, the attorney requested that Plakas not issue a new bond but transfer the previous one from charges of failing to report the abuse of her two-year-old nephew. Judge James A. Plakas dismissed those charges in court Friday.  Kwiatkowski and Dunlap were babysitting the 2-year-old victim last week when the child abuse took place, …

Northville Man's Catalytic Converter Stolen

The following information was supplied by Northville Township police.

A Northville man’s catalytic converter was stolen from his Chevrolet Cavalier between 11 p.m. April 27 and 5 p.m. April 28 at the Park Place of Northville apartments, according to a Northville Township police report. Second Suspect Charged in Child Abuse Case

The 18-year-old woman was arraigned on charges of failing to report the abuse of her two-year-old nephew, according to Northville Township police.

Prosecutors have charged Olivia Suzanne Kwiatkowski, 18, with failing to report child abuse. The Wayne County Prosecutors Office issued a warrant Thursday against Kwiatkowski for failing to report the abuse of her two-year-old nephew, according to Northville Township police.  Her boyfriend — Dylan James Dunlap, 19, of Northville Township — was charged with repeatedly hitting and burning the 23-month-old with a lighter. Kwiatkowski and Dunlap were babysitting the two-year-old victim on Monday when the child abuse took place, according to police. She was aware of the abuse and she observed injuries on the victim, police said, but did not notify the police of this abuse. Unknown Suspect Steals from Northville Vehicles

The following information was supplied by the Northville Township Police Department.

Vehicles belonging to a Northville man and woman were broken into and items taken sometime between 9 p.m. March 27 and 9 a.m. March 28 at the 19000 block of Marilyn Road, according to a Northville Township police report. A blue PT Cruiser had various CDs stolen out of the glove compartment and the Dodge Ram had $22 stolen out of a wallet, the report said. Both the man and woman said they left their vehicles unlocked overnight, according to the report. The woman said someone also broke into their neighbor's truck, the report said, but the neighbor said nothing was missing and he did not need to make a report. Northville Man's iPad Stolen from Tim Hortons

The following information was supplied by the Northville Township Police Department.

A Northville man’s iPad was stolen from his vehicle between 5 to 5:30 p.m. April 25 at Tim Hortons, 17899 Haggerty Road, according to a Northville Township police report. The man said he parked his vehicle on the north side of Tim Hortons where he was with his granddaughter, the report said. He said he thought he locked the vehicle, according to the report, but he may have gotten distracted. He said he thought he left his iPad on the front seat floor of the vehicle, the report said. Upon arriving home, he found it to be missing and did not see it in his home or vehicle, according to the report. Woman Cited for 7 Offenses, Arrested on Charges of Driving While Intoxicated

The following arrest information was supplied by the Northville Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Northville Township police arrested a woman April 26 near the intersection of Eight Mile and Haggerty roads on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and never acquiring an operator’s license, according to a police report. The officer stopped a white 1999 Ford Escort at approximately 1:30 a.m. after seeing the driver stop well past the stop line and into the crosswalk at the Haggerty and Eight Mile road intersection, the report said. The driver said she did not have a driver’s licence, the report said, and she was unable to provide any proof of insurance. The officer found that the woman had never acquired a driver’s license and had a misdemeanor warrant from Dearborn police, according to the report. Man Cited for Trespassing at Northville Psychiatric Hospital

The following information was supplied by the Northville Township Police Department.

Northville Township police cited a man at 8:34 p.m. on April 22 for trespassing at the former Northville Psychiatric Hospital, 41001 Seven Mile Road, according to a police report. While patrolling the Seven Mile Road property, the office saw a white 2011 Ford Ranger on Wayne Avenue between the Haggerty Road gate and Michigan Avenue, the report said. The man said his friend told him that it would be “cool to drive back onto the property and check it out,” the report said. The man said he did see the no trespassing signs and understood what they meant, according to the report. He was cited for trespassing and has an 8:30 a.m. hearing May 8 at 35th District Court. Man Arrested on Charges of Stealing from Meijer

The following arrest information was supplied by the Northville Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Northville Township police arrested a man at 5:44 p.m. on April 19 at Meijer, 20401 Haggerty Road, on charges of retail fraud, according to a police report. A Meijer loss prevention detective observed a man select a cart full of groceries and proceed through the checkouts near the south doors past all points of purchase and exit, the report said. Loss prevention officer then took him into custody, according to the report. The man told the loss prevention officer that he understood what he did was wrong and a crime but he wasn’t thinking about it when he left the store, the report said. Woman Arrested on Charges of Driving While Intoxicated

The following arrest information was supplied by the Northville Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Northville Township police arrested a woman 1:13 a.m. April 21 near the intersection of Haggerty and Cross roads on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to a police report. The officer noted a gray 2012 Ford Focus driving 57 mph in a 45 mph zone traveling east on Seven Mile Road near Pierson Drive, the report said. The officer saw the driver failed to remain in the curb lane when turning onto southbound Haggerty Road and instead merged immediately into the left through-lane without signaling, the report said. The driver then sped up to abut 58 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to the report.  The officer stopped the driver and noticed the smell of intoxicants coming from within the vehicle, the report said. Man Faces Larceny Charges for Hiding Liquor in Microwave

Northville Township police arrested a man April 17 at Meijer, 20401 Haggerty Road, on larceny charges, according to a police report. The responding officers were told by a Meijer loss prevention officer that there was a suspect under surveillance who was stealing liquor and concealing it inside a microwave oven, the report said. The loss prevention officer said he saw the suspect select two bottles of Cuervo 1800 tequila, a bottle of cognac and some socks and put them in the microwave oven before putting the oven back in its box. The man paid for the microwave on one transaction and then purchased other items on another transaction, but he did not pay for the concealed items, according to the report.
