School Board to Vote on Final Boundary Changes

The Northville Public Schools Board of Education is considering changing boundaries for several schools in the district.

School boundary changes will be the main topic of discussion at tonight's Northville school board meeting. The meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Hillside Middle School, 775 N. Center St. Due to an increase in enrollment, the board has been considering changing several elementary and middle school attendance boundaries for the 2013-14 school year. According to an email from the district, the board selected at a March 26 meeting the following options for boundary changes: Elementary Level Option W-1: reassign a portion of the current Ridge Wood Elementary attendance area to Winchester Elementary Middle School Level MS-Option 2: move a portion of the current Silver Springs Elementary/Meads Mill Middle attendance area to a Silver Springs …

Due to an increase in enrollment, the Northville Board of Education is considering changing several school boundaries. Below is an email from the district that explains what the Board of Education discussed about the boundaries at last week's meeting. Northville School Bus Involved in Hit-and-Run

A school bus was rear-ended Thursday morning, and the car continued down the road.

A bus heading to Ridge Wood Elementary School in Northville was rear-ended by a pick up truck Thursday morning, according to a listserv email from the school. Nobody was injured. According to the email, Bus Q on Route 37 was rear-ended by a blue pick-up truck as the bus was preparing to turn left onto Six Mile Road from Beck Road. Details about the incident are included in the email from the school:   Following the collision, the bus driver completed the turn and immediately pulled over to the side of Six Mile Road. However, the driver of the pick-up continued straight on Beck Road, failing to stop at the scene. The police were contacted and arrived very quickly. Northville School Board Honors Students, Approves 1 Expulsion

Highlights from Northville's school board meeting Tuesday night.

Editor's note: A correction has been added to the last brief about a student's expulsion. The expelled student's parents have 90 days to petition for reinstatement. Three Eagle Scouts were recognized by Northville's school board at its meeting Tuesday night. Eric Karinen of Novi earned Eagle Scout status for his efforts to collect personal hygiene products for Northville Civic Concern. Daniel Ondrus of Northville earned the achievement for logging more than 330 hours to remodel the interior foyer of the Northville American Legion hall. Benjamin Potter Thomas of Northville was honored for collecting personal hygiene products and food for Northville Civic Concern. Thanks for the feedback. I think it's a matter of what is useful to parents. Not everyone will find use in the same info. For example, one parent emailed to thank me because they wondered what happened to that student and about the outcome of the situation. It's customary for us to follow up on serious stories like this that we have previously reported on.   more ›
