Heavy overnight snowfall closes area schools.
After a night of constant snow, Northville Public Schools are closed for the day, giving students a day off. As of 5 a.m., the following schools officially canceled classes due to wintry conditions: Several inches of snow fell overnight, wreaking havoc on driving conditions Wednesday morning. As a winter storm dumps heavy snow across the area, Northville Schools are closed Friday, February, 8.
A snowfall overnight resulted in the second "snow day" of the year in Northville. The Northville Public School District announced the school closing, due to weather and poor road conditions. "While some of the main roads are ok, side roads remain icy and unlikely to be resolved in time for safe passage to school," said a listserv email from the district. The email also states that all evening activities are also canceled unless specifically noted. More than 300 school districts in southeast Michigan were closed Friday, according to various news reports. Novi Community Schools are closed, and Detroit Catholic Central High School in Novi is also closed. Today's forecast calls for more snow, according to the National Weather Service. >>…
