Saturday Fundraiser to Benefit Northville Stadium

A Night for Northville will raise money for further renovations to Tom Holzer Ford Field.

The Northville TURF CLUB is having a fundraiser this Saturday to help raise $250,000 for final developments to Tom Holzer Ford Field. The volunteer group of 13 Northville community and business leaders is hosting its second A Night for Northville fundraiser Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight at Northville Square Mall, 133 W. Main Street. More than $41,000 was raised at the 2012 A Night for Northville event and hopes run high to exceed this amount this coming Saturday night, according to a press release. The event includes hors d’oeuvres and desserts, an open bar, live entertainment from The Shawn Riley Band, two silent auctions and more. Tickets are $100 per person ($70 is tax-deductible). Fundraiser Planned for Improvements to Tom Holzer Ford Field

Tickets are now on sale for "Night for Northville" online.

The second "Night for Northville" fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Northville Square from 8 p.m. to midnight. All funds raised on this night, which will include a silent auction, will go directly to Phase II improvements at Tom Holzer Ford Field Phase II will include an upgraded concession area, renovated rest rooms and locker rooms, and cosmetic changes and improvements to the entryways, fencing and walkways. Tickets are $100 each ($70 of which is tax deductible) and includes appetizers and cocktails for the entire evening. Entertainment will be provided by The Shawn Riley Band. Northville Eight Mile Stadium Renamed Tom Holzer Ford Field

The auto dealership will give the district a $250,000 donation to be paid over 10 years in exchange for the naming rights.

-From a Northville Public Schools press release Northville Public Schools announced today a generous $250,000 donation from Tom Holzer Ford, Inc., in Farmington Hills, that will support the completion of Phase I improvements to the school district’s athletic stadium — including the installation of artificial turf — and give naming rights for the facility to the automotive dealer. Not so sure I agree that the renaming of the high school athletic field as "Tom Holzer Ford Field" because THF is donating $250,000 over 10 years for turf and a new score board is "a win-win for . . the Northville community as a whole”. Wonder how much to change the name of "Main Street" to "McDonalds Street" or why not change "Northville" to "IKEAville"? That would certainly be "Timeless . . . …   more ›

Northville School Board to Allow Tom Holzer Ford to Name Stadium in Exchange for 250K Donation

An agreement was approved by the school board to give the dealerships naming rights in exchange for the donation.

In exchange for a donation of $250,000 paid over 10 years, Tom Holzer Ford seeks to acquire naming rights of the Northville Public Schools' stadium at Eight Mile and Center roads. The school board approved a contract Tuesday night authorizing the donation. It awaits approval by the car dealership. The contract between the district and the dealership about the stadium – which is currently undergoing drastic revamping thanks to a combination of district dollars and fundraising monies raised by the Northville Education Foundation – calls for a lump sum payment of $172,600 in the first year and $8,600 for the nine years following. As a school board member, I am very appreciative of the support fromHolzer Ford and the Turf Club the enabled us to upgrade the stadium. However it is sadly true that the community seems to lack the political will to address the funding cuts being imposed on the classroom by Lansing. We cut business taxes by $1.5 billion with 2/3 of that coming right out of the K-12 budget. Our.community should …   more ›
