Northville Victorian Festival Draws Large Crowds Despite Looming Rain (VIDEO)

The festival continues Sunday.

Thousands filled the streets of downtown Northville Saturday for the 24th annual Victorian Festival despite a second day of cool temperatures and scattered rain. With some clad in period garb, Main and Center streets were lined with non-profits and vendors from around the area. Musicians and other performers were also part of the festivities. Good Morning, Northville, From President Theodore Roosevelt Reenactor

You can catch Guy Snyder at Mill Race Village Sunday.

It was three years ago that Livonia resident Guy Snyder began his impersonation of President Theodore Roosevelt at the Victorian Festival parade. This year, Snyder will give two speeches portraying the nation's 26th president at Mill Race Village on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. "I have done a lot of community theater acting," Snyder said. "It's been a long time since I've been on the stage. So I took this as a golden opportunity to get into a character and portray a historic American." Snyder has played a number of characters over the years but this is the only president he has impersonated. As a writer, Snyder said he feels a special kinship to Roosevelt who penned more than 35 books in his lifetime. "Certainly he was the most …

Parade Kicks Off Northville's Victorian Festival (VIDEO)

Several Northville groups participated in the downtown Northville's historic festival parade Friday.

Despite the rain, hundreds of onlookers watched as Northville celebrated its Victorian roots Friday night by kicking off the Victorian Festival with a parade. Several groups participated in the Northville Chamber of Commerce-sponsored event. Northville High School's marching band, several elementary schools and more walked down Main Street. Some in the parade tossed candy into the hands of delighted children while some others played music as they passed. Northville Historical Society's Victorian Clothing Sale Continues Today

Event co-chair Tillie Van Sickle talks about the sale and Northville's Victorian roots.

If you're getting ready for the Victorian Festival, you may need some Victorian-era clothing. The Northville Historical Society has a sale that continues today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost to check out the vendors spread out at various buildings in Mill Race Village is $2 and items at the sale range from as low as $2 to $100, said event co-chair Tillie Van Sickle. The clothing sale is held in preparation for Northville's Victorian Festival, which will be held later this month. Van Sickle said many parents of Northville third graders, who march in the parade every year, have come to the sale.

VIDEO: Victorian Festival Ends With Good Weather, Turnout

The Northville Chamber of Commerce's associate director talks about how the festival went over the weekend.

Northville's Victorian Festival ended on Sunday. Several vendors and non-profit groups lined the streets of downtown. Activities were also held at Mill Race Village and Ford Field. The festivities begun with a parade and children's activities on Friday. The weather was warm throughout Saturday and Sunday. The event had a great turnout, said Northville Chamber of Commerce Associate Director Traci Sincock. The Chamber sponsored the event.

Victorian Festival takes downtown Northville back to earlier times.

Northville celebrates its 23rd annual Victorian Festival this weekend in the city's downtown. Adults and children, dressed in Victorian-era garb, walked the streets filled with vendors and fundraisers. Carnival rides, live music, magic shows and games were among the many other features of the festival.
