Charlie is Chairman and President of Hale Global, a holding company that buys, operates, and drives innovation with significantly underperforming technology and media businesses. In addition to its successful turnarounds, Hale Global is known for its techniques related to talent measurement and development that it has built and applied across its companies since its founding in 2001.

In 2016, investment affiliates of Hale Global acquired Market News International ("MNI”) from Deutsche Boerse. MNI is the leading provider of news, intelligence and high-frequency trading data related to Central Bank policy. Founded in 1983, MNI has press credentials recognized by the G7 and China governments. MNI has technology offices and news bureaus across Europe, Asia and the United States.

In 2014, investment affiliates of Hale Global acquired a controlling interest in Patch Media ("Patch”), a joint venture with Verizon’s subsidiary Oath Inc. Patch provides local news to 30 million monthly readers. Hale Global also controls QL2 Software LLC (“QL2”), which it acquired through an equity plan of reorganization in Western District of Washington Bankruptcy Court. QL2 provides pricing data to the majority of worldwide travel companies, as well as systematic trading investment funds.

Charlie was a Director of Telanetix, Inc. (NASD: TNIX), which was acquired by Intermedia in a take private in 2013, and the Bearingpoint Liquidating Trust. Charlie was formerly Chairman of Hale Global companies including Summit Design (sold to Mentor Graphics in 2006), Sightline Systems (acquired pursuant to a 363 in the Northern District of California Bankruptcy Court and sold to Sage Capital in 2007), and LocationLogic, a joint venture with Autodesk Inc. (NASD: ADSK) that provided geo-location platforms for Verizon, Sprint, and Vodafone. Telecommunication Systems Inc. (NASD: TSYS) acquired LocationLogic in 2010.

Earlier in his career, Charlie served as a Managing Director for York Capital Management, where he focused on special situation investments and helped launch York’s Special Opportunities Fund. He was an Associate for Deutsche Bank AG’s buyout fund, DB Capital Partners, and a Senior Analyst for Alex. Brown & Sons, Inc.’s Technology Corporate Finance group.

Charlie holds an MBA, with Honors, from Harvard Business School and a BA from Yale University, where he majored in Art History and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
