Northville Pastor Cleans Up Church Property After Storm

The power was back Thursday morning at First Baptist Church in Northville, while nearby residents were still waiting.

Neighborhood streets in downtown Northville are riddled with fallen trees after Wednesday's storm.

Pastor Jon Wilkes, of First Baptist Church in Northville, cleaned up the damage around the church and his home Thursday afternoon.

"A 40-foot tall pine tree fell on the neighbor's garage," he said.

That tree was removed earlier, but Wilkes was still hard at work removing the damaged shrubs from his yard, which is adjacent to the church.

The power is still out at his home, he said, but it was back on at the church since early Thursday morning.

"At about 7 p.m., like everyone else, the church's power went out," he said. "But it came on at 6 a.m."

Nearly 4,000 DTE Energy customers in Northville are still without power as of Thursday afternoon.
