City's Wayne County Voters Move to Bigger Polling Location

The Northville Community Center's large gym will be more useful in future elections.

Most of the large gymnasium floor was bare at the Northville Community Center Tuesday morning as voters trickled in.

"This is our first time to be located here," said Edie Paradowski, elections inspector.

The Northville Community Center is the new polling location for Precinct 1 voters, City of Northville residents who live in Wayne County. For previous elections, voters would head to City Hall, which can easily get crowded.

"Today, it seems like a little much," she said about the large area.

Only 18 people stopped by to vote as of 9:20 a.m. Paradowski, who has been a poll worker since 2006, said she expected a low turnout since none of the candidates face opposition.

Although the space was sparse, Paradowski said she thinks using the space now will get voters accustomed to coming there. There are 2,320 registered voters in Precinct 1, she said.

"I think in the future we'll be making use of the space," she said.
