Stallions Flag Aerial Attack Grounds the Rockets in 33 to 13 Victory

The Stallions Flag Team trotted into Farmington Sunday October 6th to take on the Farmington Rockets.  For those who have been following the Stallions Flagsters it was apparent that the boys were not the herd usually seen on the field.  Great coaching decisions sparked a game fans knew was coming in this talented group.  Rising up to take on the Rockets, the Stallions threw for a season high 147 receiving yards!  Dominic Minghine led the group with 102 passing yards, finding his niche in receiver Isaac Pace.  Minghine was not the only Stallions steed with James Redwine and Nick Helner showing off their QB abilities and finding Sam Stathas and JJ Rickard on the receiving end.  The passing game not only accrued great yardage, but resulted in 2 of the 5 Stallions TD’s as well.

The running game picked up the rest of the points and balanced the passing game well with 155 yards, demonstrating that when on offense, opponents need to be ready for anything.  Two thirds of the team collected yardage for the Stallions opening up the offensive play options and leaving the Rockets guessing.  Notable runs were made by Drew Rankin, Owen Ross, Max Kamposh, Will Cappaert, Brady Couture, Evan Deak and Sam Stathas.  Nick Helner, who is averaging just over 36 yards per game, brought in 49 versus the Rockets thanks to his offensive line, including Colin Prior, Devin Shaffer and Robbie Schuckel.  James Redwine’s dash earned 6 for the herd and Minghine, Dhilan Khatiwala and Cooper Hoffman charged into the end zone picking up extra points for the team.  The scoring again put the Stallions in a position where the sportsmanship rule needed to be implemented.

As the sportsmanship rule has gone into effect in past games, the Stallions have been able to practice their Red Zone defense in real game time.  This season preparation has evolved into a stellar defense.  The Stallions racked up a lower than average number of tackles, but it’s simply because they did not need them.  The increased Red Zone practice stalled the Rockets into multiple turnovers on downs.  The Rockets would try to launch forward and Aaron Jeremias and Sam Stathas had other thoughts, totaling 7 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.  This duo was responsible for 27 yards lost overall.  With an individual record 7 tackles, Jeremias reaped the benefits of his defensive line, including Christopher Shukeireh, Luke Parrinello and Carter Skiver, despite the absence of the lines big blocker Nathan Jones.  The Rockets flight was delayed yet another day.  The boys finish off their three game road trip next week at Novi Middle School when they take on the Bobcats Saturday October 12th at 9 am.
