Tampered Pipe Causes $30K in Water Damage at Northville Home
Northville Township police provided this information.
Someone caused $30,000 worth of water damage to a Northville home Oct. 16, according to a Northville Township police report.
The construction manager for Toll Brothers said that someone drilled a small hole into an upstairs pipe and shut the water off at a home on 50000 block of Northstar Way, the report said. The mason found the water was shut off when he needed water for his mortar, according to the report. He turned it on and a few hours later water was found leaking from the upstairs water pipe through the ceiling onto the oak cabinets in the kitchen, the report said.
The construction manager said the water damaged the new tiling in the upstairs bathroom and the drywall and cabinets on the first floor, according to the report.

The manager said he thinks this was done intentionally because it is the third house where something like this happened, the report said. He thinks there is an on-going battle between union and non-union plumbers, and each of the damaged houses had plumbing installed by non-union workers, according to the report.
There are no suspects.
