Police Arrest Saline Man on Marijuana Possession Charges

Northville Township police arrested a Saline man June 19 on charges of possessing marijuana, according to a police report.

An officer was on bike patrol in Cass Benton Park near Edward Hines Drive and Six Mile Road because of neighbor complaints of marijuana use, the report said. The officer smelled marijuana coming from the open windows of a tan Mercury Grand Marquis as it drove by, according to the report.

Officers from the City of Northville stopped the vehicle, the report said.

The driver of the car said that he and his female passegener had a little marijuana, according to the report. The officers searched the vehicle and found a small baggie of marijuana inside the driver’s cigarette pack on the front seat, the report said. Police also found a film container with a small amount of marijuana in it and a marijuana bowl, according to the report. These were found in a plastic bag inside a Pringles can in the driver’s bag in the back seat, the report said. 

The driver admitted that these were his, too, and the substances tested positive for marijuana in a field test, according to the report.

The officer arrested the man for possession of narcotics and paraphernalia. He has a hearing July 10 at 35th District Court.
