Northville Girls Soccer Beats Brighton

The Mustangs win the game, 4-0.

The Northville High School Mustangs varsity girls soccer team beat Brighton High School Wednesday by a score of 4-0.

The following summary of the game was submitted by Northville girls soccer coach Eric Brucker.

Northville defeats Brighton 4-0 as part of the Kensington Lakes Activities Association Cross-over game.

First half

23rd Minute: Junior Lauren McBroom plays in a corner kick from the right side. The ball goes deep and lands at the feet of freshmen Maddy Westerberg who sneaks the ball in by the far post.

Second half

53rd Minute: Senior Emily Bush steals the ball from a Brighton defender and dribbles around another before shooting past the Bulldog keeper

69th Minute: Ashley Peper plays in a corner kick from the left side. The ball is collected by Westenberg who passes to Bush who scores her second of the night.

73rd Minute: Junior Karen Lovelace plays a ball through the middle of the Brighton defense to Junior Kyra Dahring. Kyra blasts a shot off the keeper and collects her own rebound before passing the ball into the net. Senior Kiki Hilmer and Sophomore Emily Maresh split time in net for the 13th shutout of the season. 

Northville moves to  15-3-2; Brighton moves 15-3-1.

The next game is the second round of the district playoffs 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Livonia's Stevenson High School against the winner of the Franklin-Novi game.
