Power has been restored to downtown Northville, but about 4,000 DTE Energy customers in Northville and Northville Township are still without power.

Crews have been seen in the area working to restore power and clear downed power lines.

Pastor Jon Wilkes, of First Baptist Church in Northville, cleaned up the damage around the church and his home Thursday afternoon.

The power is still out at his home, he said, but it was back on at the church since early Thursday morning.

"At about 7 p.m., like everyone else, the church's power went out," he said. "But it came on at 6 a.m."

Several Northville Patch readers left comments on Facebook saying they were affected by the outages.

"No power at 8 mile & Taft, I'm going on 4 hours now," said reader Kristine Dreyer. "My friend lives downtown on Dunlap and no power there either."

Others commented on the damage the storm had done to the roads and trees in the area.

"We were on 7 mile, it was a mess," said reader Heather Helm. "There were a ton of trees on the road like an obstacle course. There were trees on a police car. He was stuck in his car. I'm sure he was okay, but what a scary situation."

As of 11 p.m., DTE had not posted estimated restoration times for any of the outages. More than 70,000 customers are without power in metro Detroit.
